Hi! I’m Lauren and I’m a graduate student at Northeastern Illinois University working toward my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I’m a non-traditional graduate student, switching careers after a decade in art and design. During this career transition, I also transitioned into motherhood. The transition to motherhood rocked my world and sense of identity to the core. As a result, I am passionate about walking with others through this life transition in a way that feels true to them.
I approach this work from an existential lens and hope to help clients find beauty and meaning in both the highs and lows of their experiences. I seek to help clients work with their anxieties and find equanimity in the inevitable uncertainty that life and parenthood present. Parenthood tests us physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually; I take a holistic approach to healing and believe that each of these aspects of the self must be nurtured for us to be at our best. I am passionate about working with clients from a range of cultures, identities, and experiences. I am deeply influenced by feminist theory and am particularly passionate about examining gender roles as they present, and are challenged or reinforced, during the transition to parenthood.
I am excited to learn how you personally came to this threshold and what your journey has looked like so far. Whatever your goals or reasons for seeking help, I am here to support and guide you toward wellness.
